How restaurant & supper club bookings work

Booking: You can book as a single person, couple, family or any number. Tables may be shared as this is a "chef's table" experience - the restaurant is integrated with the kitchen. When you contact us we provisionally accept your booking, and then confirm it by email when we have at least 6 reservations, which is our minimum number to open. If we're unable to accept your booking on a given day, we will try to offer you an alternative date.

We will do smaller numbers by arrangement for special events such as marriage proposals or anniversaries. Being a small team we usually limit reservations to 12 per evening but we can do more if you contact us as we can seat at least 18.

We open for Sunday lunches by prior arrangement.

Prices: Set 4 course menus typically £50-£60 per head and may be more for additional courses or premium dishes. We are happy to cook special things for you but must charge in advance for costly ingredients such as fore rib, fillet beef or whole turbot. In any case we only use high quality produce and you will never leave hungry.

VAT: As we have limited openings, we're currently below the VAT threshold, therefore we don't charge VAT, saving you 20%.

Service: 12.5% will be added to your bill. If you have any issue with our friendly and relaxed service we will amend or deduct it. Shared equally with the whole team, including staff you might not see such as daytime kitchen prep staff. We have never had a guest leave unhappy so if anything is even slightly wrong, please tell us straight away and we'll fix it.

Reviews: If you can say something nice about us on-line we really appreciate it. We are on Google, Instagram and Facebook.

Corkage: £10/bottle to cover our costs including glassware. If you want wines chilled then please bring them in advance fr us to chill or bring them chilled and we will pop them in the cooler. We can filter and decant too for very fine wines that require special handling and sediment removal: £10 per bottle for this service. Riedel or J.Jenkins fine glassware.

Deposits: we may request a deposit for groups to secure the room or for special produce that you request. Deposits are not refundable unless we can re-sell the booking or produce.

Lateness: service starts at 7.30pm usually (or by prior arrangement for groups) and as a set menu offering we have to avoid inconveniencing other guests. If you are unavoidably late, please call us asap on 07463 897435 to let is know. You might miss a course cooked to order, but you will still have a great time and not leave hungry!

Tables: three indoors and a couple outdoors in summer. The oldest one is from the Henry VIII early 1500's era so you will get a slice of history with your meals. Seating is casual and usually mixed so you get to meet new people, but we can generally do whatever you want. We can sit a couple at the service counter if you want to get very close to the action!

Payment: We use Sum Up for credit and debit cards, also cash and BACS. They take a fee of 1.6% so cash is preferred.
